A new motorcycle contains all new parts and equipment and, as a result, shouldn’t need a ton of intensive care or maintenance for quite a while. However, there are still a number of preventive tasks you’ll want to complete to ensure your new motorcycle stays in top condition, and avoid an expensive trip to the mechanic. For tips on how to care for your new model, check out our article below.

Wash Your Motorcycle

Many people underestimate how important it is to wash a motorcycle regularly. While it should take quite some time for a new motorcycle to rust, a build-up of dirt and grime will definitely speed up the process. Giving your model a quick scrub every 3 months or so—and a wax and polish every 6 months—will do a lot for the longevity and look of your new motorcycle.

Inspect Engine Fluids

While motorcycle fluids don’t need to be replaced very often, it’s very important that you inspect and examine them regularly to check the state of the fluid and ensure it isn’t leaking. When inspecting fluids be sure to keep an eye out for discoloration or debris, as well as any signs of condensation, as these are all signs the fluid needs to be flushed and replaced.
