Motorcycle Maintenance Accessories You Need
If you’ve recently purchased a motorcycle you may not have all the necessary tools to properly maintain it yet. Don’t worry, we’ve put together this helpful list of parts and instruments you’ll need. When you’re ready come visit us at our location in Eugene, Oregon and grab any of the tools or parts you need from our helpful parts department!
Tool Kit
It’s extremely important to keep a tool kit with your motorcycle in case your vehicle breaks down. A tool kit will allow you to complete emergency repairs so you can safely get to the nearest service shop or even your own garage. While a tool kit may vary a bit from person to person, you’ll want to make sure you’ve got the essentials like wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, jumper cables, a tire pressure gauge, and a patch kit.
Bulbs and Spark Plugs
Burnt out bulbs and shot spark plugs are pretty common issues that can happen at any time. Therefore, it’s wise to always have a few replacement parts nearby. If you have the storage space and aren’t worried about the parts getting jostled and damaged (as can be the case with light bulbs) you can keep them in your toolbox. However, if this isn't an option for you, keeping the parts at home is alright if you’re not traveling out of town.
Tires
Motorcycle tires are unfortunately not as durable as the tires on a car. They need to be replaced every 5 to 6 years, although this can vary based on your mileage. Before you find yourself stuck with a flat or balding tire, buy a replacement to keep in the garage!
If your motorcycle is relatively new you have plenty of time to round up these items! However, if you’ve bought a used model or your bike is a little older, we encourage you to purchase these things sooner rather than later. If you find yourself in need of a repair and are located nearby in Albany or Corvallis, Oregon, stop by Willamette Valley Harley-Davidson® to take advantage of our on-site repair shop.
