Cruisers are some of the most powerful and iconic motorcycles around, but accidents and breakdowns happen to everyone. We here at Willamette Valley Harley-Davidson want to help you prepare for emergencies, so we’ve put together some tips for repairing your cruiser on the road. To learn more, or to see the cruisers we have for sale, contact our store in Eugene, Oregon, today!

The Tools

Always carry a comprehensive but travel-size toolkit when you ride so you can handle minor repairs on your own. Make sure to familiarize yourself with these tools, which should include:

  • Screwdrivers
  • Pliers
  • Wrenches
  • Tire patches
  • A fuel siphon
  • A portable air compressor

In a Situation

If some other maintenance situation arises, your first step is to get the motorcycle out of traffic, making sure to remain as visible as possible. Determine whether the repair is within your skillset. If it is, and you’re in a place with enough room to operate, break out the tools and get to work.

If you’re out of your depth, try to get a ride to a nearby motorcycle maintenance department, or call local roadside assistance to come help you. Once the immediate situation is resolved, book a service appointment as soon as possible to get your bike back up to speed.
